The aim of the Department is to evaluate and diagnose children with developmental and/or behavioral problems as well as to provide counseling for their families.

The key principle of the department is to address and support both children and their families to ensure a comprehensive and effective diagnosis and treatment.

Depending on the case, referrals are made to pediatric specialists such as Pediatric Neurologist, Pediatric Psychiatrist and Clinical Geneticist.

During the family’s visit to the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Department, a thorough examination of each child and his/her family is performed in order to reach a comprehensive and early diagnosis by considering all medical, psychological and developmental aspects.

This process includes obtaining a detailed developmental history, pediatric and neurological examination and developmental testing using specific standardized developmental screening tools based on spontaneous and free cooperation of the infant, toddler or child, aimed at assessing all his/her skills.

The family then receives counseling and, if necessary, a further referral for a specialized treatment intervention. The child's parents and pediatrician receive a detailed written report of the developmental assessment and every effort is made to build a relationship of trust and confidentiality, which is essential in the further guidance of the family and monitoring of the child.

Visits to the department are scheduled by appointment, and the developmental assessment-counseling session takes at least one hour.
