The 1st Orthopedic Clinic offers the entire range of medical services covering all cases of orthopedics, traumatology, reconstructive surgery and sports injuries. The permanent staff and associate physicians of the Orthopedic Department mainly aim at
accurate diagnosis, conservative treatment and surgery of orthopedic and sports conditions.
The primary consideration is to improve functionality, reduce pain and ensure return to normal activities with the latest methods, techniques and materials.
Acute conditions and injuries, such as fractures or sports injuries, as well as chronic, degenerative diseases, such as osteoarthritis, are covered. Qualified associates are involved in the state-of-the-art treatment of conditions of the bones, joints,
ligaments and tendons. Our Department invests in the well-rounded treatment of each patient separately, starting from the right diagnosis and the choice of the most appropriate conservative or surgical treatment, to the proper guidance and supervision
of the postoperative rehabilitation program, up until the patient returns to their previous normal condition.
It ensures fast and uncomplicated surgical treatment and short hospital stay, avoiding transfusions in the majority of surgeries and
eliminating postoperative pain.
This includes using the latest technology devices and equipment, creating an innovative digital operating room and partnering with specialists, physiotherapists and other associates.
Minimally invasive techniques of the knee, hip and shoulder
ensure:
- significantly minimal surgical trauma to muscles and soft tissue
- less bleeding
- reduced postoperative pain
- short hospitalization
- best aesthetic result
- faster recovery of patient/athlete
An important part of its activities is to participate in research programs and clinical studies, and to conduct of experimental research, in partnership with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and other educational institutes in Greece and abroad. We believe that the role of the clinician does only involve passively accepting treatment algorithms, but also participating in developing original scientific knowledge and new surgical and conservative treatment techniques. The Orthopedic Clinic is linked to the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA).
