The Department deals with diseases of the Central Nervous System. This consists of the brain and spinal cord. They include birth defects (for example spina bifida, hydrocephalus) which are usually diagnosed during the first months of life, brain and spinal cord tumors, injuries and a range of other health conditions that affect the nervous system and need surgical treatment. It also uses technologically advanced surgical equipment and carries out neurosurgical operations to newborn to adolescent children. The Neurosurgical department deals with the whole range of neurosurgical operations on pediatric patients and is specialized in neuroendoscopies, surgical treatment of spasticity, brain tumor surgeries by the use of neuronavigation system, surgery of birth craniofacial disorders, epilepsy surgery using intraoperative electroencephalogram. The department is supported by the intensive care unit of the hospital.

The department offers neurosurgical coverage for both inpatients and outpatients , 24 hours a day.
