IASO Children’s Hospital: Beginning of Collaboration with the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, General University Hospital "Attikon"
For the first time in Athens, a private and public sector collaboration partnership in the context of medical, nursing education, as well as clinical, research work regarding pediatric care from infancy to adolescence.
IASO Children's Hospital, the leading Pediatric Clinic in Athens proceeded to a collaboration partnership with the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, General University Hospital "Attikon”. The beginning of this collaboration essentially contributes to the promotion of Pediatrics in the context of medical and nursing education, clinical practice and research for the provision of high-level health services to young patients.
The axes of the collaboration include the joint creation of educational programs, scientific events, conferences and seminars, the training of the residents of the 3rd Pediatric Clinic, as well as the training of medical and nursing staff at IASO Children's Hospital and its Specialized Treatment Offices and at the Emergency Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, General University Hospital "Attikon". Furthermore, treating incidents with a high level of difficulty, in addition to performing diagnostic and interventional procedures when there is a need for specialized care or for the use of special cutting-edge equipment are the main axes of the collaboration. Moreover, the creation and implementation of joint disease treatment protocols, according to contemporary bibliography data aim to promote the health services provided in our country. In relation to research work and with the unanimous approval of the Scientific Councils, IASO Children’s Hospital and the 3rd Pediatric Clinic will participate in joint research activities.
Ms. Vana Papaevangelou, Professor of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases, Director of the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, General University Hospital "Attikon” stated that she is particularly happy as this collaboration between two leading pediatric clinics of the private and public sector will contribute to the promotion of pediatric care, the medical training of residents, as well as of the newly-trained pediatricians and finally it will strengthen the research activities of both Institutions.
Ms. Theodota Liakopoulou-Tsitsipi, Director of IASO Children's Hospital Medical Service, Director of the 1st Pediatric Clinic of IASO Children's Hospital, stated that she was content, as a personal collaboration with the Professor of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases, Ms. Vana Papaevangelou, Director of the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, General University Hospital "Attikon”, which started many years ago at the 1 st Pediatric Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, continued in the following years, and for the last ten years at IASO Children's Hospital, reaches today an important collaboration between the two leading Pediatric Clinics of the Public and Private Sector. This collaboration will primarily contribute to the promotion of pediatric care, but also the education of pediatricians and the reinforcement of the research activity of the two Clinics.
