IASO General Clinic: Successful Treatment of Firefighter
The firefighter who was injured during the incidents last Friday was discharged from IASO General Clinic today.
The injured firefighter was admitted to IASO General Clinic on 5 November 2021, due to injury he sustained in the right hand, with composite nerve-vascular damage and significant skin deficit. After undergoing the necessary medical and imaging tests, emergency surgery was deemed necessary. During hospitalization, the patient had to undergo multiple surgical procedures to restore the vessels and nerves, and to cover the skin deficit with an autograft.
The case was successfully managed by the medical team of the IASO 1st Orthopedic Clinic, including the Director, Dr. Christos Giannakopoulos, and the Registrar, Mr. Apostolos Champipis. The skin deficit was treated by plastic surgeon and IASO associate Mr. Konstantinos Papakonstantinou. The anesthesiology team for the procedures included Ms. Evgenia Theochari-Galanopoulou, Director of the IASO Anesthesiology Department, and Mr. Konstantinos Angelis, IASO associate.
The emergency procedure, the experience of the surgical team and the excellent cooperation among the various medical specialties contributed to the successful treatment of the patient.
