Gastric botox, a new non-invasive weight-loss method for instant results from the 2nd Gastroenterology / Hepatology Clinic
IASO Group is adopting innovative and safe methods for diagnosis and treatment, aspiring to continuously maintain the top-level of services it provides. Gastric botox is a modern, safe, cost-efficient and effective, non-invasive weight-loss technique, performed by the qualified team of doctors of the IASO 2nd Gastroenterology / Hepatology Clinic. It is based on the innovative endoscopic gastric botox method, meaning the injection of botulinum toxin in the gastric wall, resulting in extending the feeling of a full stomach and reducing the feeling of hunger. It is addressed to:
- Overweight patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 25-39.9.
- Patients who have already undergone bariatric surgery and have regained the weight.
- Obese patients with a BMI > 40, who cannot undergo surgery (preparation for a surgical procedure).
- Cases that require a quick weight-loss solution, for health or aesthetic reasons, such as after pregnancy, menopause and smoking cessation, due to thyroid disorders, diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome, and quarantine weight gain.
It is performed through gastroscopy under anesthesia monitoring, has a short duration (around 30 minutes), does not require hospitalization, is well tolerated by the vast majority of patients and does not require abstaining from daily activities. The program lasts from 4 to 6 months and includes nutritional guidance from the IASO Nutritional Support & Dietetics Department.
