Flu Vaccine for Expectant Mothers
Aiming to safeguard the health of women during pregnancy, IASO is offering flu vaccines to expectant mothers who undergo scheduled screening at the IASO Fetal Medicine Department, such as Nuchal Translucency Scan, Level 2, Doppler and biophysical profile, from 20 to 30 November 2019. The vaccination will be free of charge, fast and easy, and will be performed by qualified IASO nursing staff.
With winter around the corner, flu vaccination is very important, especially for pregnant women.
When a pregnant woman is inflected with the flu, the infection is more severe and the development of pneumonia is frequent. Increased miscarriage rate, low neonate weight, congenital disorders from hyperpyrexia, as well as increased morbidity and mortality in infants aged less than 6 months have been recorded when expectant mother have been infected with the flu.
The vaccine may be administered to women during any pregnancy trimester, as well as to new and breastfeeding mothers, and it protects the mother, the fetus, the neonate or the infant, without any complications.
The only contraindication is allergy to eggs.
