Dean Hélène Glykatzi-Ahrweiler at IASO
It is with great pleasure that IASO hosts Dean Hélène Glykatzi-Ahrweiler, one of the most eminent academic figures, especially in Byzantinology, with extensive and rich work in the field and a series of lectures and speeches, both in Greece and abroad.
The scientific lecture titled “Byzantium: A milestone in Greek History” delivered by Ms. Glykatzi-Ahrweiler, will take place on Friday 19 January 2018, 12:30 pm, at the Events Hall of IASO.
Hélène Glykatzi-Ahrweiler is a Greek Byzantinologist – Historian. She was the first woman to become the Principal of the Department of History at the University of Sorbonne in 1967 and, in 1976, she became the first woman to hold Rectorship in the 700-year history of the University Sorbonne. Also, she is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Greece, Chancellor of the Universities of Paris, Director of the Institute of Byzantine History and Civilization Research, and Chair of the European Cultural Center of Delphi.
