Two-day Conference on Diabetes Mellitus, 24-25/11/2017
In cooperation with the Hellenic Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (GrESPEN), IASO General’s Internal Medicine – Diabetes Clinic and Diabetes Center are holding a 2-day Conference titled “Diabetes Mellitus 2017: Internal Medicine disciplines team up and …treat Diabetes Mellitus. Newer overviews on everyday clinical practice and complications prevention” on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 November 2017 at the Royal Olympic Hotel (28-34 Athanasiou Diakou St, Athens). The 2-day Conference is held under the auspices of the Hellenic Diabetes Association and Private University “IEK AKMI” is a Scientific Associate to the Conference.
Mr. Antonios Lepouras, Internist-Diabetes specialist, Chief of the Internal Medicine Clinic and the Diabetes Center at IASO General, shall be the Scientist Responsible for the Conference. Renowned speakers of various specialties shall participate in the Conference in order to address topics related to both the latest treatments and the field of complications prevention.
Diabetes Mellitus continues to show increasing occurrence and incidence rates in population. In addition, various and unpleasant co-morbidities subsequent to Diabetes Mellitus maintain their high rates, and their reduction requires both the close cooperation of a team of highly specialized doctors, nurses and the effective communication with the patient.
Topics, such as the diabetic foot, fertility and gestation in diabetic patients, cancer, infections and vaccination, the visual, respiratory and cardiovascular systems, rheumatic autoimmunity an obesity in diabetics shall be thoroughly discussed, aiming at the global and comprehensive approach to the disease. Furthermore, presentations at the Conference shall include all the newer technologies and blood glucose monitoring & recording systems, the advances in infusion pumps systems, the treatment algorithm according to the Hellenic Diabetes Association’s 2017 Guidelines, the newer insulin regimens and current considerations on diabetes type 1 & 2 therapeutic perceptions.
Lifelong learning constitutes an essential good, not only for clinical practice and education on the recent advances in therapeutic perspectives, but also for the communication and cooperation among therapists, helping them to deal with the multiple and concurrent medical problems encountered by diabetic patients.
Participation in the Conference is free of charge and 16 CME-CPD Units shall be allocated to the attendees by the Panhellenic Medical Association.
