Vascular Anomalies Center at IASO Children’s Hospital
IASO Children’s Hospital improves its specialist services by establishing a Model Vascular Anomalies Center, the only one in Greece for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular anomalies.
The Vascular Anomalies Center is equipped with innovative technical equipment and infrastructure of the latest technology (digital anghiography system, suitable for road map and 3-D brain and extremities angiographic images), and is fully supported by the Vascular Anomalies Center at “Boston Children’s Hospital”. The Center is headed by Messrs Ch. Gogas, Interventional Radiologist/Neuroradiologist and K. Papakonstantinou, Plastic surgeon, and is staffed by a team of renowned physicians of multiple specialties, awarded their specialization in vascular anomalies by top multidisciplinary clinics in the USA, and highly experienced in the application of modern techniques and methods in managing vascular anomalies cases.
Vascular anomalies are congenital anomalies developing in about 2-3% of childbirths and affect the vessels in the body. The lesions are detected either at birth or during the first months of a neonate’s life and exhibit as either single lesions or symptoms of a syndrome.
IASO Children’s Hospital takes pride in constantly enriching its healthcare services towards pediatric patients with specialist services such as the Vascular Anomalies Center, the Cranio-maxillofacial Center, the Department of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and the Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Center. Great emphasis is placed on the One Day Surgery, aiming to minimize the children’s stay in a hospital environment. IASO Children’s Hospital is accommodated in an ultra modern building, right next to the Maternity Clinic, and operates 24/7. It is approved by EOPYY (Greek National Organization for the Provision of Healthcare Services) and almost all private insurance companies.
