Scientific lecture by Dr. Eftichia Kontopoulos titled “Advances in Fetal Surgery”
Titled “What is new in fetal surgery?”, the important scientific lecture organized by IASO Group, will be held on Friday 20 June 2014 at 12.30 in the Events Hall of IASO Clinic. The lecture will be delivered by the distinguished Greek fetal surgeon Dr. Eftichia Kontopoulos MD, PhD, FACOG. Dr. Kontopoulos is an Associate Professor at the Department of Fetal Medicine, Maternity and Gynecology at the Miller School of Medicine of the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial, USA and Chief of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Ultrasound.
The Rapporteur of the event shall be Mr. Aristeides Antsaklis, FRCOG (Hon), Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Athens, Chief of the Department of Fetal Medicine at IASO.
Dr. Eftichia Kontopoulos is of Greek origin that works in the USA and uses pioneering methods in operating fetuses during pregnancy. It is worth mentioning that the famous fetal surgeon, assisted by her team of surgeons, carried out the World's First In-Utero Surgery to Remove Tumor, without performing an incision on the mother’s abdomen, at the Jackson Fetal Therapy- Fetal Surgery Institute in Miami. These pioneering procedures allow the in-utero surgical treatment of prenatally detected conditions in children.
