The 1st  Cardiac Surgery Clinic has been organized and staffed based on international standards, so that all modern advanced cardiac surgery treatments can be applied, such as:

  • Endoscopic Cardiac Surgery: Minimally invasive heart valve surgical techniques, without sternotomy, MICS (Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery) and Da Vinci robotic surgery.
  • Treatment of aortic, mitral, tricuspid and pulmonary valve diseases with plastic repair or replacement with a biological or mechanical prosthetic valve.
  • Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
  • Aneurysms - aortic dissections of the ascending aorta and aortic arch with systemic blood circulation disruption.
  • Endovascular thoracic aortic aneurysm repair (TEVAR, FEVAR).
  • Treatment of ischemic heart failure with left ventricular volume reduction (Dor procedure).
  • Adult congenital heart disease (ACHD).

Being empathetic towards patients and by applying specialized cardiac surgery techniques and protocols, we can create conditions for both the immediate awakening of patients in the operating room (Super Fast-Track Extubation - SFTE), and for minimizing or even eliminating postoperative pain in order to achieve even better therapeutic results.

Through the thorough application of the aforementioned methods, the ultimate therapeutic goals of Contemporary Cardiac Surgery can be approached, which seek to increase life expectancy as well as to improve the quality of life of our patients.

The Clinic constitutes a Center of Excellence (by TÜV AUSTRIA) for bypass surgeries - one of the largest on a global scale - with Total Arterial Myocardial Revascularization, which is achieved exclusively with the two internal mammary arteries and the radial artery, on a beating heart or not.
