Pediatric Andrological Surgery Pediatric andrological surgery encompasses the entirety of conditions of the male genital system that appear during the fetal, neonatal, infantile, pediatric, and adolescent stages and reflect on the sexual ability and fertility of the individual in adulthood. During the phase of organogenesis in the fetal age, in certain cases, one or more congenital disorders of the genitalia may occur. In addition, after birth and before adulthood, various acquired conditions of the genitals and reproductive system may appear.
Pediatric andrological surgery is aiming to inform the general public about congenital disorders and acquired conditions that appear in boys at a young age and have an impact on their adult life. Early diagnosis and proper treatment of these conditions contribute significantly to the prevention of permanent male-specific conditions and to the proper function of the genital and reproductive system during adulthood. Utilizing the accumulated extensive experience gained in the surgical treatment of congenital disorders and acquired conditions of the male genital system in the neonatal, infantile, pediatric, and adolescent stages, he considered it his duty to write this book (from the surgeries he has personally performed) and contribute to the proper information of parents in order for them to help their child.
Pediatric Gynecological Surgery
The purpose of neonatal, infantile and pediatric gynecology is to inform the general public, particularly parents, about congenital disorders and acquired conditions that occur in girls at a young age and have an impact on adult life. Early diagnosis and proper treatment of these conditions contribute significantly to the prevention of permanent female-specific conditions and to the proper function of the genital and reproductive system during adulthood. Utilizing the accumulated extensive experience gained in the surgical treatment of congenital disorders and acquired conditions of the female genital system in the neonatal, infantile and pediatric stages, he considered it his duty to write this e-book with cases he has personally treated and to contribute to the proper information of parents in order for them to help their child.
The female genital system is formed during fetal development and undergoes all maturation changes during the neonatal, infantile, pediatric and adolescent stages. The female genital system consists of a) the vulva, b) the vagina, c) the uterus, d) the two fallopian tubes (oviducts), and e) the two ovaries (gonads). Any congenital disorder or acquired condition of these anatomical structures during the fetal, neonatal, infantile and pediatric stages can impact women and is a subject of study and treatment in gynecology. Often, the causes of sexual dysfunction and reduced reproductive capacity in women are due to congenital disorders or acquired conditions that were not properly diagnosed and treated during childhood. Within this book, the fetal origins and development of the female genital system are described. The conditions of the genital system are classified and congenital disorders and acquired conditions of the vulva, vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries are described.
