IASO: 4th One-Day Breastfeeding Conference on the topic “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All”
MATERNITY - GYNECOLOGYIASO Hospital’s Nursing Department is organizing the 4th One-Day Breastfeeding Conference on the topic: “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All” on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at 08:30 am, at IASO Hospital’s Event Hall.
The World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) has been established by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and since 1992 it has been celebrated annually on August 1-7. In our country, Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year on November 1-7. This action is supported by UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Ministries of Health in many countries. It is a campaign that aims to raise awareness among citizens and health professionals on issues related to breastfeeding and its promotion, aiming to achieve the goal set by WHO, of 50% of infants being exclusively breastfed by 2025.
For 2024, the World Breastfeeding Week celebration focuses on the need to improve the support for breastfeeding, so as to reduce social inequality, with a particular focus on breastfeeding in times of emergency and crisis.
In particular, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action states that:
“Breastfeeding can act as an equaliser in our society and efforts must be made to ensure everyone has access to breastfeeding support and opportunities. It is essential that no-one is left behind especially vulnerable mothers who may need additional support”.
