IASO General Clinic: Scientific One-Day Conference "Debates on the treatment of gynecologic neoplasms"
GENERALWe would like to inform you that the Therapeutic Clinic of the University of Athens (NKUA) School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Hematology-Oncology Team of IASO General Clinic, is organizing a Scientific Conference on the topic: "Debates on the treatment of gynecologic neoplasms", on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, at 9:00 am, at IASO Hospital’s Event Hall.
Mr. Meletios – Athanasios Dimopoulos, Professor of Therapeutics – Hematology – Oncology, Director, Therapeutic Clinic (“Alexandra” Hospital), School of Medicine, NKUA; Mr. Michalis Liontos, Medical Oncologist, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, NKUA; Dr. Maria Kaparelou, Medical Oncologist, Attending Doctor, Oncology - Hematology Team, IASO General Clinic, are the Scientific Directors of the one-day conference.
The aim of the conference is to spark a fruitful dialogue on the most pressing issues with regard to the management of patients with gynecologic malignancies. The therapeutic landscape of gynecological malignancies has changed rapidly in recent years thanks to the recognition of specific molecular subtypes of these conditions, but also to the introduction of new therapeutic methods, such as immunotherapy and targeted therapies. In daily clinical practice, the results of these changes are actually seen, reflected in the improvement of the quality of life and survival of the patients. But at the same time, new challenges emerge, for the main part concerning choosing the appropriate treatment for each patient. In addition, issues regarding the prevention of these diseases, the genetic counseling of patients and their families, as well as the proper management of the adverse effects of new medicines are becoming more and more important.
In this context, it becomes obvious that data emerging from multicenter clinical trials have a primary role in guiding therapeutic medical decisions. Nevertheless, within this rapidly changing therapeutic landscape, scientific questions continue to emerge and which cannot be answered by clinical trials and guidelines yet, and ongoing scientific dialogue can help in adopting the best practices for patients. The goal of the conference is to form opinions and reach conclusions and practices that will help clinicians in their practice, in cases where clinical trials have not yet provided clear answers.
You may attend the conference in person. The registration for attending it is free of charge.
