IASO Children’s Hospital: 2nd Continuing Medical Education Seminar entitled ''From necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) to short bowel syndrome: New strategies for prevention and treatment"
PEDIATRICThe 2nd Continuing Medical Education Seminar entitled ''From necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) to short bowel syndrome: New strategies for prevention and treatment", will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 09:15, at IASO Hospital’s Event Hall.
The seminar is organized by the Gastroenterology and Pediatric Surgery Department of IASO Children’s Hospital, together with IASO’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Necrotizing enterocolitis is a serious disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract of premature infants, but it can also affect full-term infants. Many neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis require surgery to resect part of the bowel, which could lead to short bowel syndrome. Short bowel syndrome is the main cause of pediatric intestinal failure and is characterized by a lack of intestinal absorption and bowel dysfunction.
The aim of this continuing medical education seminar is to set new principles and strategies in the prevention and treatment of these problems, in accordance with the latest scientific data and international recommendations.
The Chair of the Organizing Committee is Ms. Panagiota Kafritsa, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Director at the Gastroenterology Department of IASO Children’s Hospital.
Participation and attendance are free of charge and will be feasible in person, but also via Live Streaming through the following link:
